Families in the Dark

Dialogue in the Dark has something to offer for guests of all age groups. We are especially pleased with visits of families and the curious questions of young guests. How young? Well, we reccomend Dialogue in the Dark for children 6 years and older. You as parents know your kid a lot better, you can estimate how they handle new situations. Our youngest visitors were 3 - 4 years old. Generally speaking, kids adapt faster to the darkness as their parents.

Some children however react anxious and scared. If this should be the case with your kid our dark parcours can be left within seconds through the various emergency exits. The gentle and encouraging words of our guides have proofed very helpful to overcome initial insecurity and enable young (and not so young) visitors to immerse in this experience. Force and preassure have no place here. Visitors of any age who want to leave, will be lead out.

How can you tell that your kid is "old" enough? Talk to him or her. Tell him / her about the positive effects o darkness - for example how hearing and smelling get better without visual distractions. How the surface and structure of a leave feel different. Ask if he or she feels brave enough to go for a stroll in complete darkness. The reaction will show you if your kid is ready for a visit... or if it's better to wait with that.

We are pleased if you trust in our skills. But please do not see us as a substitute for a psychologically profound therapy. Kids (just like adults) with an irrational fear of darkness, kids who cannot sleep without lights on... will not feel comfortable in our dark parcours.
